The abundance of sightseeing on Rhodes along with various other activities provides a diversity of options to enjoy your tour on this place. Among many other attractions of Rhodes Island, there is a beautiful Kolimbia (Kolymbia) Beach, which like other seashores attracts a variety of tourists from across the world especially during the summers. You will find this beach unique in its nature because of its beauty and location .

Being a pebbled beach of Rhodes, Kolimbia is located inside a petite bay, which is about 24 kilometers in the south of Rhodes town. As it is located near the Seven Springs (Epta Piges), it attracts a large number of tourists yearly . Epta Piges is located at a distance of just 6 kilometers from this place, where you can have a tranquil and modern family friendly environment.

Kolimbia resort, apart from being a rapidly developing tourist destination is still quite beautiful. However, this pretty well-organized beach is not that crowded as the other beaches of Island Rhodes do. In order to enjoy luxurious accommodation, you can book your stay in one of the top hotels of this resort as well as in the nearby areas . There are also a variety of caf’s and taverns for your service, which can be approached for eating and drinking near the seaside.

Beside other facilities on the beach, you can find sunbathing and swimming activities with a variety of available water sports, sun-beds and umbrellas. This beach is said to be one of the popular seashores especially among the German tourists. The greenery, splendid landscape, clean water and other picturesque views make this beach an ideal place for taking pictures. Those who like fishing will really like this place as it offers fishing opportunities to everyone. The major entrance to the resort is through the stirring Eucalyptus’street, which is known for its tall green eucalyptus trees covering both sides of the street. This street was established by the Italians, when they were dominating Rhodes Island.

A prominent feature of this place is that many of the settlement streets are named as the European city centers. Therefore, you will see such streets like the ?London and Stockholm Streets in the area. Being half way between two prominent tourist attractions of Rhodes Island – Lindos and Rhodes Town is an interesting trait of this place .

Therefore, it makes it easier for the tourists to easily approach both of these destinations. The pebbled suspension bridge of the River of Loutanis is yet another amazing tourist attraction, which is locatable at 1 to 2 km distance to the north of Kolimbia. Another worth-seeing place is the Holy Monastery of Paramythia, which is locatable 6 kilometers in the north towards the settlement.

Besides, there is a local Medical Center and a pharmacy, which is accessible in the nearby village of Archangelos. There is also a Police station and a Post office. You can hire a cab or rent a car or motorbike to access Kolimbia beach.

Rhodes Island provides lots of entertainment opportunities as well as top quality Hotels in Kolimbia to make you enjoy all the pleasures during Rhodes Vacations

Tourists find the Rhodes Island very fascinating and attractive to explore. The centre of capital of the island is a well preserved ancient town bordered by medieval walls and gates. It is the old town of Rhodes on Rhodes Island that serves as a living museum and attracts many tourists for their Rhodes Holidays every year.

Old Town of Rhodes:

The old town architecture contains a mixture of several civilizations and cultures’ including the Turkish, medieval and Byzantine ones and it is therefore, one of the World’s Heritage sites in Rhodes Island declared by UNESCO.

This Medieval town of Rhodes is a distinctive place and contains some very impressive sites. The old town has been divided into three main parts: the Knights’ Quarter also known as Kollakio, Turkish Quarter and the Jewish Quarter.

The Old Town’s Kollakio is the place where majority of the medieval landmarks are situated. The Pyles or the nine main gates of Rhodes Old Town are used for entering the old town of Rhodes where you can experience the culture and living style of different nations including Turkish, Byzantine and Latin.

Therefore, when coming for Rhodes Holidays, visiting the Turkish Quarter is a must if you want to discover the historic treasures of old town.

Exploring the Turkish Quarter:

Innumerable Byzantine churches transformed into mosques in the west part of the old town makes the atmosphere of the place very oriental and you will also find small shops and stalls like the ones in old bazaars, the squares have vaulted houses since the front walls are embellished with arched bows and there is a fountain in almost every square.

From both the sides of the Socrates Street, narrow lanes take one right into the heart of the medieval town. You can reach the Turkish quarter by using the narrow road here called the Hippodamus Street. The 15th century’s Agia Paraskevi church is located on the right-hand side. Arhelaou Street is a narrow lane that you will reach when you go a little farther. Going farther leads one to the Arionos Square, the mosque of Sultan Mustafa and the Turkish Hamam.

Suleiman Mosque and the Hammam Baths:

The Turkish quarter is particularly dominated by the startling pink-domed Suleiman Mosque. Their Turkish legacies include the Turkish ‘Hammam’ baths that are still operated by the local municipals.

If you want to see the famous public baths and the mosque of Sultan Mustafa in Arionos square, you can take the street called Archelaou which is located behind the Suleiman mosque. These are the sacred Turkish baths (hammam) that have been fully restored.

Turkish library:

On the other end of Archelaou Street one can find the Turkish library. It was built by the Moslem Rhodian Ahmed Hafuz in 1794. Some great selections from the Turkish, Arab and Persian literature and documents can be found in the library. Amongst these manuscripts the important ones include

An anonymous chronicle of the 1522 siege

One richly ornamented Koran of 1412

One richly ornamented Koran of 1540

Kurmale-Medresse:

On the west side of the Suleiman Mosque is situated the Apollonion street that leads to the Byzantine-Gothic church of St. George. During Ottoman occupation this church was known with the name of Kurmale-Medresse which means the school with the date palm and was used as a medresse.

For memorable Rhodes Holidays we suggest that you avail all the entertainment and leisure opportunities as well as get a Aparthotel Rhodes, or one of the top Rhodes Town Hotels

There are many stories, myths and beliefs that how the Dama Dama deer caused the number of the snakes to diminish greatly. All beliefs about the deer propose that the deer were in one way or the other very effective in minimizing the poisonous snake population.

Cause of Extinction:
During the times of Knights of St John the deer were reintroduced on the island. This allowed the deer to flourish during medieval times. During the Ottoman era they were hunted to extinction but were reintroduced later in 1930s by the Italians. Presently there is only a small number of Rhodian deer found on the island and that too in natural protected parks.

The world class beaches found on Rhodes Island serves as an attraction for many tourists that come for Rhodes Holidays. One of the stunning beaches on Rhodes Island is the Fourni Beach.

Fourni Beach:
Being an isolated beach in Rhodes, only few people especially peace lovers’ visit the Fourni Beach. The beach is located at a distance of seventy eight kilometres from the Rhodes city.

Fourni Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on Rhodes Island. However, due to the large distance from Rhodes city and its remote location the beach is never really crowded.

Visitors often give priority to the other neighbouring beaches during their Rhodes Holidays but none of those beaches are more attractive than the Fourni Beach.

The beach is beautiful with small, soft but pebbly shoreline and has a stunning background of lush green mountainsides.

Road to Fourni Beach:
A chaotic and narrow road connects Forurni Beach to the Rhodes city. The narrow path has some astonishing bends that sometimes can make one feel on the extreme edge of cliffs.

The narrow road progressively gets even and leads to a petite cul-de-sac of a small area having pine forests.

Beach Facilities:
The beach offers sun beds, parasols and other necessary equipments on rent. However, you have to bring your own umbrella as they are not available here.

The decked area of the beach that connects it to many cafes and cantinas serve fresh fruit juices, beers, soft drinks, snacks and other light refreshments. There is also a small rock formation here that provides a good shade for the sun.

The beach also carries charming pine trees, wavy sea waters and stones. The beach is very peaceful and is ideal for relaxing during Rhodes Holidays. This beach offers great environment to enjoy sunbath and relaxation but you may not avail any sophisticated water sports activities.

Activities on the Beach:
In order to enjoy yourself, you can even walk along the beach. As the beach is secluded, calm and peaceful mostly the elders and couples prefer it to spend good time together.

The beach offers a great place for swimming or simply walking along the beach, splashing water and enjoying the pleasant breeze. The water is wavy but very clear. Comparative to other developed beaches, this beach offers calm and peaceful environment.

There are no noisy clubs, large hotels, restaurants and bars. You must visit this beach to explore its natural beauty before it is developed and equipped with large hotels and clubs.

Reaching the beach:
You can access Fourni Beach in several ways. One can take a cab to the beach. Due to the distantness of this beach from the Rhodes town, you are recommended to hire a car or motorbike. You can reach the beach through Monolithos which is found just at a distance of 3 kilometres in the southwest of the village.

If you are fed up of the crowded and noisy beaches during Rhodes Holidays then plan a trip to Fourni beach. Find out the nearest available Rhodes Accommodation and Rhodes Town Hotels to the Fourni Beach.
